A Natural Smile with Ceramic Dental Implants. 100% metal-free zirconia tooth replacement

Ceramic Implants

Ceramic or Zirconia implants offer outstanding tissue compatibility and peri-implant soft tissue health.

The esthetic results with Ceramic implants are excellent when replacing posterior teeth, and very good when replacing anterior teeth. We must keep in mind that Zirconia is dense and opaque, and due to its high rigidity and risk of fracture, narrow (3.0-3.3mm) two-piece implants are not readily available for the time being, making it a surgical and prosthetic challenge when replacing maxillary and mandibular incisors.

Very rarely, patients can exhibit hypersensitivity reactions to Titanium dental implants, as these are not made of pure Titanium. These reactions can manifest as localized redness at the implant site to distant skin areas or even systemic reactions, and are usually reversible after removal of the causative implant.
Titanium is soft, therefore Titanium dental implants are mixed with other metals to increase the implant strength. According to the American Society for Testing Metals, most dental implants are Graded 4 or 5. Grade 4 being the strongest but least pure of the commercially-available pure titanium, and Grade 5 being a very strong titanium alloy (Ti-4Al-6V) with 4% aluminum and 6% vanadium. As such, ‘pure’ titanium or Titanium alloys release very small amounts of metal ions into local and distant tissues (eg. Iron, Aluminum, Vanadium, Nickel).

Possible signs and symptoms of hypersensitivity to titanium dental implants include, but are not limited to: Dermatitis, facial eczema, exfoliative chielitis, gingival hyperplasia, redness, pruritis and urticarial, painful mucositis of peri-implant tissue, swellings in submental and labial sulcus, burning mouth.

The surgical technique, initial healing, and osseointegration time are all very similar to that of Titanium implants.

Tissue level implant available in the following diameter: 4.1mm

Bone level implant available in the following platform diameters: 3.7mm and 4.3mm.

Wider Ceramic implants are available, and can be obtained on an as needed basis.
